Description: Now you can own a piece of British history from the time of King George II. This is the scarce and fully bound London Magazine for the year 1736. It features the January to December issues including the Index. The London Magazine is England’s oldest literary periodical, with a history stretching back to 1732. The 1736 magazine was edited by Isaac Kimber and ran continuously for 53 years until its closure in 1785. The magazine would be resurrected in1820. The pages of this book contain a unique collection of contemporary news, proceedings of Parliament, public discourse, original poetry, short fiction, cultural reviews, and literary essays. Condition: 8vo. 742 pages + the Index. Fully bound in cloth with gilt stamp titles to the spine. The upper corners are bumped, a small crack to the upper spine. The interior features the Ex~Libris label of E.C. Smith and several ownership stamps of Wm. H. Hahn of Friendship, Maine, including one in pen with a 1940 date on the front endpaper. Pages are toned with intermittent foxing. Some chipping with a small tear to the first page, creasing to a few corners and some paper loss to the upper right and left corners of the last few pages of the Index. (See photos)
