A very good copy of the Jules Verne 1875 second volume of "The Adventures of Captain Hatteras," preceded by The English at the North Pole and published in London by George Routledge and Sons. Condition: 8vo. 269 pages - Original blue pictorial cloth embossed in black and gilt. Routledge undated catalogue at the back. 126 black and white illustrations by Riou. Light edgewear with corners bumped and rubbed, wear along the hinges and softening to the spine ends. Gilt stamping is still bright on the front and spine. Interior clean and unmarked with tissue guarded frontis intact. The front hinge cracked at the gutter, intermittent foxing to the page edges, endpapers and interior pages. Overall, an outstanding example of this 1875 First Edition.
