A near very good copy of the first U.S. edition and printing of North of Boston, the second issue of Robert Frost's second published book of poetry. One of just 150 sets shipped from the Nutt offices in London to New York. Identical to the London first issue, but with Holt's cancelled title leaf on a thicker paper and with the verso stating "First Edition 1914." Although the title page states 1914, the sets were late reaching the Holt offices and were probably published somewhere around February 20th, 1915. (Crane A3-1) 8vo. 144 pages - Bound in the original cheap grey-brown paper boards (binding B) with brown cloth spine and cream-colored label with the thin/thick rule and the holt acorn device on the front and spine, top edge trimmed and others uncut. Several stains to the paper boards including a stain to the lower right corner of the front label. Light edgewear with corners bumped and rubbed, spine tips softened, and the paper spine label is heavily chipped along the edges, but still readable. The interior is clean and unmarked with some toning to the paper and "The Old Corner Book Store, Boston" label on the lower front flyleaf. Overall, a presentable copy of the increasingly scarce early frost first edition.
