A very good copy of the 1930 "Authors Autograph Edition" of Little America, signed by U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd along with the book's publisher G.P. Putnam. Little America was the name of a series of bases Byrd established on the Ross Ice Shelf during several expeditions he led to Antarctica. This limited edition is number 814 of 1000 copies printed on special Rag Leaf all Rag Paper and features seventy-four illustrations and maps. Condition: 8vo. 436 pages including the fold-out maps and index. Publisher's original half parchment over blue boards, with gilt rule to the front and rear boards and titles stamped in gilt on the spine. Light edgewear with rubbing to the corner tips, some soiling and foxing to the boards with sunning to the spine and a small stain to the upper spine end and lower rear corner, also visible on the lower right corner of a few interior pages toward the end of the book. Overall, a very good copy of this 1930 signed limited edition.
