Zane Grey's embossed leaf SIGNED BY GREY tipped in after the title. (Rogers, pages 23-25) Illustrated by Douglas Duer. Set in the Southern Utah canyon country of 1871, the novel has been called "the most popular western novel of all time." 8vo, 335 pages - gilt-stamped cloth with a bit of rubbing to the pictorial cover-label with some hand-soiling to the cloth boards; corners rubbed, spine faded with some creasing to the cloth and with tips softened, some toning to a few interior pages, front hinge just beginning to crack and a small bookseller ink notation on the upper rear endpaper.
2. Grey, Zane - Riders of the Purple Sage, Harper & Brothers, New York, 1921 Gift Edition. Due to its huge popularity in America and around the world Harper & Brothers released this Tenth Anniversary Edition in a larger format than the original. It is a first edition and printing with the Harper K-V code and features eleven W. Herbert Dunton full page color illustrations including the frontis. 4to. 336 pages plus 4 pages of ads at rear - Publishers' attractive heavy black cloth with gilt stamped titles to the spine and upper front boards. The front also features the Dunton color paste-on with gilt rule. The book is in very good or better condition with a bump to the lower corners and softening to the spine tips. The interior is clean and unmarked with just light toning to the pages. A great set of these scarce First Editions with the 1912 First Printing featuring the tipped in signed sheet with the Zane Grey library blindtamp.
