A near fine copy of the May 1937 Limited Edition of 'Later Bookplates and Marks of Rockwell Kent,' signed by the artist on the limitation page at the rear of the book. During the 1930's and 1940's Kent designed many custom bookplates for clients, charging as little as $100 to $250 with most done originally as woodcuts. This book features some of his best work for clients as diverse as Joseph Kennedy, the Library of Congress, and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. It's a follow-up to the 1929 original 'Bookplates and Marks,' this being number 1172 of 1250 signed copies. Condition: 12mo. 84 pages - publishers' salmon cloth boards stamped in gilt to the cover and spine. Deckle fore and bottom edge with pages uncut and featuring over sixty engraved illustrations. A small bump near the front gutter halfway down the spine and some softening to the upper spine tip. The interior is clean and unmarked. The unclipped decorated dust jacket has some chipping at the fold and spine ends, some sunning and wear to the spine and several small tears now reinforced with acid free tape to the verso.
