A very good 1939 First U.S. edition of "The Witch in the Woods" in the scarce dust jacket in good condition with the $2.50 price on the front flap. The second book in T.H. White's inimitable Arthurian legend and the further adventures of the Wart, who grew up to be King Arthur. A first printing with the same date on the title and copyright pages and no further printings. Condition: 8vo. 270 pages in Putnam's original glossy blue cloth boards with gilt print to the spine, gilt stamped vignette to the front cover, red topstain and deckle fore-edge. The lower front corner and spine ends are bumped with some fraying to the upper spine tip and a bit of a spine lean. The interior is clean and unmarked with just minor offsetting to the endpapers. The dust jacket is in good condition and is clipped at the flap corners, but the price is intact. Sunning to the spine, chipping at the fold and spine ends, a few creases and closed tears that have been repaired with acid free tape to the verso. A bit of foxing and a small stain are also visible on the jacket verso.
