Number 106 of a small run of 250 copies of Appleton's 1895 Large Paper Edition featuring 112 illustrations by A.B. Frost including 11 full page illustrations, each with titled tissue-guards. Condition: 8vo., 289 pp., Signed at the Preface by Joel Chandler Harris. This copy also with quote in southern black dialect in Harris' hand following the signature. Bound in the publisher's white gilt ruled velum paper with title, signature and decoration stamped in gilt, top edge gilt, fore and bottom edges uncut. Attractive new white calf spine with titles stamped in gilt and refreshed endpapers. Wear to edges, corners bumped and rubbed, some soiling and toning to the boards. Toning to page edges, several pages roughly cut, the corner tips of pages 191 and 193 are clipped, and a dampstain is visible along the extreme outer and lower edges beginning on page 171. Still a very nice copy of this very limited edition of the Joel Chandler Harris classic signed by the author.
