A very good copy of the Longmans, Green and Co, 1900 First Edition of Winston Spencer Churchill's fourth book London to Ladysmith via Pretoria, a personal record of Churchill's impressions during the first five months of the Second Boer War in 1880.  8vo. 498pp., 32 pages of Longmans ads at rear, Half-title page, folding color frontispiece map, with all maps and plans accounted for. Publisher's original tan cloth, lettered and decorated in black, red and gilt with gilt stamped titles and flag decoration to the spine, black endpapers. A crease along the spine, joints worn, a bit of a spine slant, corners rubbed and bumped, softening to spine tips, foxing to a few pages and chipping along the outer edge of the fold out map opposite page 366 as well as a few pages of the Longmans catalog.
